Yukata Dressing Workshop PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 26 April 2010 09:34

To assist the general public in preparing for the upcoming obon festivals, the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui (JCSM) will sponsor a yukata (summer kimono) dressing workshop on Saturday, May 1, at 5 p.m. at Kahului Hongwanji social hall.   The tuition is $10 per person.

“Many want to dress up in their yukata but don’t know how to go about doing so.   This workshop is an opportunity to learn how to dress yourself in a summer kimono and to tie an obi,” said JCSM President Tiffany Iida.

A potluck dinner and obon dance practice will follow the workshop.

To register for this workshop which will be taught by Ken Tasaka, call Renee or Lynn at 244-6042.  Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to bring their own yukata, obi and other accessories.
