- August 17 - Kumamoto Kenjin Kai Picnic at Wailuku Community Center from 9:30a to 2:30p.
- August 23 - The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will be holding its 4th annual cleanup at the Japanese Gardens at the Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens in Iao Valley on Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to noon. Those attending are asked to bring garden tools and portable chairs. A bento lunch, available for $6 per member and $7 per non-member, will be served at 11:30 a.m. To purchase a bento, call Regan at 357-6009 by August 20. Drinks, including soft drinks and water, and snacks will be available.
- September 27 - JCSM quarterly meeting & special program featuring Sekiguchi Komei Sensei, 21st Grand Master of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu and head of the International Komei Juku. Meeting will be from 9:30a at the Maui Okinawan Cultural Center. To purchase a bento, call Priscilla Yamamura at 877-5558 by September 19.

- March 14-16—14th Annual Honolulu Festival, Waikiki
- March 29 - General Membership Meeting, Wailuku Hongwanji Social Hall. Special historical focus on the society's past 39 years of existence. We will also be providing an update on upcoming events and on the cultural center.
- March 31—Deadline for submissions for next issue of Hanashimashoo
- April 15—Japanese Cultural Society of Maui Scholarship Application Deadline
- May 16—Maui Matsuri Japanese Karaoke Contest, 6:30 p.m., Iao Theatre
- May 17—8th Annual Maui Matsuri, 3-9 p.m., Maui Community College
- July 5th - Salute Our Veterans - General Membership meeting at the Kahului Hongwanji Mission. More information to come.
