Japanese Garden Cleanup Scheduled

The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will be holding its annual clean up at the Japanese Gardens at the Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens in Iao Valley on Saturday, March 19, at 9 a.m.

President Tiffany Iida said, “This is a way to show our appreciation and to pay tribute to our ancestors.” Families are encouraged to attend to view the many monuments at the park and share the stories of the Japanese immigration with their children. Members and the general public are encouraged to attend according to event chair Rodney Ryugo.

Those attending are asked to bring garden tools, trash bags, and portable chairs. A bento lunch, available for $7, will be served at 11:30 a.m. To purchase a bento, contact Priscilla Yamamura at 283-4253 by March 16. Water will be available.
